Abdominal Migraine in Adults

As headache clinicians the concept of abdominal migraine in children is a well known phenomena. In adults it is not quite as well documented. A recent case study and discussion on abdominal migraine in adults concludes; “Abdominal migraine should be considered a possible source of incurable abdominal pain in adults when accompanied by a complete gastrointestinal workup with normal results. We recommend a trial of topiramate as prophylactic therapy if abdominal migraine is the likely source of the pain.”
